For W.Dom. (at SBR) the preparations included checking every bolt and nut...twice. On race night the air was warm and so was the Cornstockar. A Heat Win was overshadowed by Win from the back of the Pursuit race. They things got a little crazy. A few moments before the Feature the driver of he 95.1 "The Rock" car decides that tires need to be changed. Crewman95 with the help of Donald D. mounted the tires that would get the Wheel his first "Hat-Trick". Feature start was from the 8th spot. By Lap 7 the 95.1 car was in third. Ahead was the 5 car and 1D. Behind 00 had climb to 4th after an early spin in the turn 2. The feature was splattered with many cautions. Several opportunities to take 1D where presented on restarts had failed. For the next few laps the 95.1 was practically hitched to the back of 1D who was right behind the 5. On lap 11 the 1D tried a pass on the outside of 5 that had errored toward the low side exiting turn 2. Bam! the 5 and 1D doored each other and 95.1 slipped past on the high side for the lead. The rest was practically a leisure ride to the finish. Congratulations to the 5 for capturing the Seasons Points Championship. For WHEEL, to win all three races this night was a great accomplishment. For the 95.1 team it was proof that our efforts are rewarded. Congatulations to all for a great season at SBR. Next race will be Eldora Speedway.

South Buxton Raceway August 18, 2007

A shaky start to World Domination. The heat race ended with a fuel issue and post a DNF. Repair with a quick blow to the fuel line and the car was good to go. Started the pursuit 2nd from the rear with Curtis Coulter behind him. Cornstocker brought the car home 4th. The feature race starting position was 8th. By lap 10 Cornstocker was in second place. A few laps later a pass on a ill handling Jimmy Dale, Cornstocker toke the lead. One observer could not believe the forward bite, "the front wheels where both lifting". "It feels good to get back with a feature win", said Cornstocker. He also said the track was in the best shape ever, in his years of racing. The Cornstocker has been racing during the month of July and August. Actually the last race that I had attended was a night the track was rougher than a plowed field. That would have been July 14. Catastrophic failure occurred in the rear linkage during the pursuit. A lot of hard work was for not that night. Fortunately the Cornstocker has many talents and the repairs had him back together the very next day. Then it was off to Butler Speedway in Michigan to hang with the rednecks the following Wednesday, July 18. That night was another weird trip to the USA. Seems some of those boys can't drive worth a dam. Two laps left in the heat race 95.1 was leading the way and the dude directly behind taped him in the rear and they both ended up in the out field. After the race that same dude came yell'in at Cornstocker for taking him out. Seems screwed up if you ask me. The feature was nothing to blog about....the car sucked (no forward bite). After that race my absence at the track and mind has cause failure to blog. I guess I get to claim a DNF. Crewman95 .... out.

South Buxton Raceway 070707 (July 7, 2007)

There was nothing lucky about the number 7 for it being 070707. The number has some significance for the Wheel man. The number 7 was his career hockey number. It also happens to be his daughter Sarah's birthday. Unfortunately the Cornstock Motorsports team has to record a DNF. The night started out fantastic. The ailments from last week are gone after several hours on the scales. The heat win was swift. A follow up win in the Pursuit race confirmed the set up was dialed in. The MOD Pursuit race seemed to be over quick or few laps short. Starting position in the Feature race was 8th. A few laps in and the march forward started. A caution found Corn in 6th outside of the 5 car of C. Coulter. The outside line was fast, but rough. A few laps later the 95.1 car was found in the 2nd spot, about 1/2 a straight behind the 47 of J. Brousseau. Then the car just quite running and would not restart. The final placement was 10th. The crew thinks it could be the ignition system, but once back at the speedshop the diagnosis will begin. The bright side to all this is that the car handle excellent tonight. Next week we are the mouse once again in the Pursuit race. Here is Crewman's quote pick of the week. It sounds allot like what we do now. "We drove for the sheer fun of driving because there wasn't that much money to be made." - Richard Petty.

South Buxton Raceway, June 30, 2007

Happy Canada Weekend everyone! We were excited to be back at the track after re-clipping the front end and straighting the rear end over the past 2 weeks. Tonights racing action was unfortunately better than our car. Brake bias issues during the heat race push the car around. After the race we resolved the problem. Since we did not race last week we do not run the Pursuit. This left use with lots of time to make adjustments. Unfortunately I think we over adjusted the car. The way we looked at it is that you can go to the far side of good setup and be very badly setup. We ended creating so much left rear bite, that the car would chase up the track each time the throttle was applied exiting the corner. It became a situation that you had to learn to drive the situation. This got Wheel to third place with 3 laps to go. Battling hard with 1D Paul Degoey at this point for position. Unfortunately everything came crashing down right about this time. A nasty bump along the D and going into turn one upset the car badly and spun out. I think Wheel must have been wrestling a bear. I am pleased with the car after the wreck June 14, and we know what was wrong tonight. Mistakes do happen. Better luck next time. Congratulations to Curtis Coulter for his Victory. Pretty cool! The 95.1 mod got into the A show by finishing in the top 4 of heat 3. During the heat Wheel followed a I-96 local in second place for most of the race. A bobble on the last lap in an attempt to pass the leader resulted in a 4th spot finish. OOPS! The top 4 from each heat redrew for position. Well it did not really help, the 95.1 car would start 12th in the A feature. The feature was a very interesting one to say the least. There where 6 cautions in the first 6 laps. I was in the pit stands at the apex of turn 1. Wow ..is was quite a breath taking place to be. 12th place was not a easy place to be going into turn. It seemed like the entire field wanted to WIN in turn 1 and 2 on the restart lap. Our car was on the outside row and that made it difficult to get the bottom on the restarts starts. On restarts there was 10-15 of the 20 car field in a huge cluster, 4 wide and deep going around 1-2. The dirt was flying and you had to just pray that the cars around you did not bobble or spin-out. Finally the race started to go green for a few laps. The field spread out. This is where I begin to feel a little guilt about writing last weeks quote. Yes it happened. About lap 9, one of the first laps our car could get to the bottom, an accident of great magnitude. The poor guy who won heat 3 spun backwards in bottom of turn 2 ahead of our car. And then....."you wreck some". Under acceleration and no where to go our car collided nose first with the spun car. From my seat in the pit stands I saw and herd the impact as a deep thud sound that was herd over the roar of the cars on the track. The rear of the 95.1 mod lift a few feet off the ground and rotated 180 degrees. That ended the night for us. This also terminated the 2007 Rocket modified hybrid Impala SS chassis. Lets just say I have never seen anything that messed up. Wheel said he was fine a day latter thanks to the safety belts and Hanns device. I hope to have some pictures soon. For now we will be exploring our options and then move on. Hope to see you back at the track soon. Ohh! Schrader...he took the lead from Fisk 42 with about 4 laps to go, and win. Ken Wallace racing his JEGS.com late model and finished mid field the LM A Main. Oddly we enjoyed the trip to I-96, and I would not have it any other way when it come to racing with my brother. I'll leave you this week with a bumper sticker I saw. "Racing Rules because baseball. basket ball, and football only has one ball".

South Buxton Raceway, June 9, 2007

The night was a comfortable 22C, at sun set.  A great night for racing at SBR.  The 95.1 racer started in the front row of heat 2.  No contest, simply put. The track was in decent shape.  We were unable to run the Pursuit race because the we missed the feature race last week.  The Pursuit race race consists of last weeks top ten finishers in order of 10th to 1st, with last weeks winner at  the rear.  The object is not to get passed. Once you get past, you must leave the track.  This was just in case you did not know. "FILLER". In the feature race the 95.1 car started mid field.  The perfect night for racing went sour early in the race.  A collision with another car in turn 2 initiated a handling problem.  The car got very loose.  A few laps latter, we spun out in turn3/4.  A bad slide down the banking collected another car and blow to the right side. Ouch!  We were able to continue but the car was extremely lose.  From the pits I could see the front right wheel was tilted inward much more than normal.  Cornstocker (driver) decided to call it a night as the car handled poorly.  The problem: a broken upper A arm shaft.  We finished 8th.  See you all next week. I'II leave you with this most excellent quote;

"You win some, lose some, and wreck some."- Dale Earnhardt Sr.

South Buxton Raceway, June 2, 2007

Tonight needs some exclamation as to why the CORNSTOCKCAR did not make the feature. Some new graphics to the 2007 Impala SS and rubber ready to race. Position draw once again was back if the field for the heat, but that did not stop the WHEEL! The 8 lap heat was fast. Only few cautions, just enough to tighten the field and grab 2nd place a couple laps later and finish there. After the 2 heats there was a re-draw for the top 8 heat finishers to position the front of the feature field. Once again it was not the best pick, the 95.1 "The Rock" car started 6th. The 20 Lap feature had a few cautions, once almost collecting our car as another driver who was spun high in turn 3. Wheel just miss the car and went over the turn 3 bank. The car was ok and we were able to continue. At one point after spinning out with another car, the 95.1 car climb from the back on restart to 6th. The front 6 cars ran close for the final 6 laps. Traction was at a premium as it was getting very dry and slippery. Once again our car likes the bottom. Our finish was 7th. Another excellent road trip.

SBR Action May 12, 2007

The weather was cool (below 50F). Heat results ended in a late aided spin, the corn car would have to start the feature near the rear. Having found some comfort for the new car and making some minor changes to the tires and rear suspension set up, it was time to go racing. Seat time was order of the day as several yellows where thrown during the race. The car car moved forward a few spots. The cool thing was the car liked the bottom of the track, hugging the inner tires. Well... so did many other drivers, as moisture was available down there. All said, it was a successful trip. Oh ya! Everyone had bus envy!

Welcome!

Welcome to Cornstalker's blog site.
