Wheel was racing in the A main with Ken Schrader at I-96. Pretty cool! The 95.1 mod got into the A show by finishing in the top 4 of heat 3. During the heat Wheel followed a I-96 local in second place for most of the race. A bobble on the last lap in an attempt to pass the leader resulted in a 4th spot finish. OOPS! The top 4 from each heat redrew for position. Well it did not really help, the 95.1 car would start 12th in the A feature. The feature was a very interesting one to say the least. There where 6 cautions in the first 6 laps. I was in the pit stands at the apex of turn 1. Wow ..is was quite a breath taking place to be. 12th place was not a easy place to be going into turn. It seemed like the entire field wanted to WIN in turn 1 and 2 on the restart lap. Our car was on the outside row and that made it difficult to get the bottom on the restarts starts. On restarts there was 10-15 of the 20 car field in a huge cluster, 4 wide and deep going around 1-2. The dirt was flying and you had to just pray that the cars around you did not bobble or spin-out. Finally the race started to go green for a few laps. The field spread out. This is where I begin to feel a little guilt about writing last weeks quote. Yes it happened. About lap 9, one of the first laps our car could get to the bottom, an accident of great magnitude. The poor guy who won heat 3 spun backwards in bottom of turn 2 ahead of our car. And then....."you wreck some". Under acceleration and no where to go our car collided nose first with the spun car. From my seat in the pit stands I saw and herd the impact as a deep thud sound that was herd over the roar of the cars on the track. The rear of the 95.1 mod lift a few feet off the ground and rotated 180 degrees. That ended the night for us. This also terminated the 2007 Rocket modified hybrid Impala SS chassis. Lets just say I have never seen anything that messed up. Wheel said he was fine a day latter thanks to the safety belts and Hanns device. I hope to have some pictures soon. For now we will be exploring our options and then move on. Hope to see you back at the track soon. Ohh! Schrader...he took the lead from Fisk 42 with about 4 laps to go, and win. Ken Wallace racing his JEGS.com late model and finished mid field the LM A Main. Oddly we enjoyed the trip to I-96, and I would not have it any other way when it come to racing with my brother. I'll leave you this week with a bumper sticker I saw. "Racing Rules because baseball. basket ball, and football only has one ball".
